India At Chess Olympiad 2024: India has created history in the Chess Olympiad. Actually, what did not happen in 97 years was achieved by India thanks to D Gukesh and Arjun Erigaisi. India won the gold medal in the open section of the Chess Olympiad. Apart from this, India also won the gold medal in the women’s section. In this way, India won a total of 3 gold medals. This is the first time in the history of Chess Olympiad that India has captured the gold medal in both sections. D Gukesh defeated Vladimir Fedoseev, while Arjun Erigaisi defeated John Subel.

India’s D Gukesh has created history by winning the gold medal for the second time. He has achieved success in the individual event. Earlier, D Gukesh had won the gold medal in the Chess Olympiad 2022. In this way, after winning 2 consecutive gold medals, D Gukesh has become the second Indian after Grand Master Vishwanathan Anand. Also, he became the 16th Grand Master in the world to do so.

Indian women’s team won gold in the women’s section
In the women’s section, the Indian women’s team included Harika Dronavalli, Vaishali Rameshbabu, Divya Deshmukh, Vantika Agarwal, Tania Sachdev and Abhijeet Kunte. The Indian women’s team defeated Azerbaijan 3.5-0.5 in the last match. Let us tell you that India has won the gold medal in both sections for the first time in the history of Chess Olympiad. India had never been able to do this before. India had to be satisfied with the bronze medal in the Chess Olympiad 2 years ago. Also, India had won the bronze medal in Chess Olympiad 2014.
