India on World Test Championship Points Table 2023-2025: The first match of the three-match Test series between India and New Zealand was played in Bengaluru. The first day of the first test match was washed out due to rain. Due to which this match started from 17th October and continued till 20th October. New Zealand managed to win this match by 8 wickets. After this victory of New Zealand, India is seen suffering a big setback in the race for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. New Zealand has also improved its position in the points table of WTC 2023-2025.
India’s path to WTC final
With this defeat, India will now have to win 5 out of 7 remaining matches to secure their place in the WTC final. Although the Indian team is still on top in the points table of the World Test Championship, but its lead has reduced considerably. India has to play two more Test matches against New Zealand, followed by a five-Test series against Australia at the end of the year.
Win percentage of India and New Zealand after the first test match
After this defeat against New Zealand, India’s winning percentage has fallen to 68.06%. Now the team will have to perform better in the next Test matches to retain its place in the WTC final. With this victory, New Zealand has taken a big leap in the WTC rankings. She has moved from sixth to fourth position and now her winning percentage is 44.44%.
On the other hand, India’s closest rivals are Australia and Sri Lanka. Australia is at second position with 62.50% win percentage and Sri Lanka is at third position with 55.56% win percentage.
