IND vs AUS 2nd Test Squad Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024: India has a 1-0 lead over Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 and the second match is to be played in Adelaide from 6 December. Even before that it has been revealed that Washington Sundar is certain to play in the second test match. In the Perth Test, Team India management ignored veterans like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra and gave a chance to Washington Sundar. Capitalizing on the opportunity, he took 2 wickets and scored 33 runs in both the innings.
“There is a 90 percent chance that Washington will play the second Test in Adelaide,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by TOI. The secret of Sundar’s selection could also be that apart from scoring unbeaten 42 runs, he also took one wicket in the India vs Prime Minister’s XI practice match played in Canberra on 30 November-1 December. Earlier, he had made a brilliant comeback in the series against New Zealand. Washington Sundar was the highest wicket-taker in that series. He had sent 16 batsmen to the pavilion.
Washington Sundar has till now been batting at sixth or lower order, despite this his batting figures have been excellent. So far he has scored 387 runs in 12 innings of 7 test matches. His runs may seem very less, but his average is 48.37 and he has scored three half-centuries in 12 innings. If we look at his bowling record, he has taken 24 wickets in seven matches so far. Let us tell you that Washington Sundar was in great demand even in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 3.2 crore.
The Indian team has changed a lot under head coach Gautam Gambhir. Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy made their debut in the first test. This management experiment also proved successful. Now it will be worth seeing whether the experiment of including Sundar in the playing eleven in place of Ashwin and Jadeja in the second test is successful or not.
