In the match, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first. Afghanistan got off to a great start as Zubaid Akbari and Sediqullah Atal made an opening partnership of 137 runs. Akbari scored 64 runs, while Atal played a quick inning of 83 runs and sent Team India on the backfoot. Team India proved to be a failure
Team India, which came to chase the target of 207 runs, had a very bad start as Abhishek Sharma was out after scoring just 7 runs. India had not even recovered from Abhishek’s wicket when Prabhsimran Singh returned to the pavilion on the score of 19. Due to the fall of captain Tilak Verma’s wicket, India’s three wickets had fallen for just 48 runs. Ayush Badoni and Nihal Wadhera handled the innings for some time, but once wickets started falling, batsmen kept coming and going. Badoni scored 31 runs and Vadhera scored 20 runs.
Ramandeep Singh’s hard work went in vain
The situation was such that India had to score 85 runs in the last 5 overs to win, but in such a situation, Ramandeep Singh was standing at the crease as a ray of hope. Ramandeep started hitting fours and sixes from here and completed his fifty in 26 balls. He kept fighting till the last ball of the last over, but his innings of 64 runs in 34 balls failed to give victory to India.
