India beat Bangladesh 2nd Test: India defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the second test match and won the series 2-0. In the first 3 days, due to rain, only 35 overs could be played, but in the next 2 days, Team India defeated Bangladesh. This is the same Bangladesh team which had defeated Pakistan 2-0 in the Test series on its own soil about a month ago. With this victory, India’s path to the World Test Championship final has become a little easier than before.
On the fifth day, Bangladesh continued their innings with a score of 26/2, but the Indian bowlers seemed to have come with a target in mind. There was an important partnership of 55 runs between captain Nazmul Shanto and Shadman Islam. At one time Bangladesh’s score was 91 runs for 3 wickets, but within the next 55 runs the visiting team also lost the remaining 7 wickets. India got the target of 95 runs to win in the fourth innings. Captain Rohit Sharma was out early, but Yashasvi Jaiswal played a half-century of 51 runs. The rest was done by Virat Kohli’s innings of 29 runs. In this way India has won this match by 7 wickets.
After the end of the fourth day, Bangladesh player Mehdi Hasan claimed victory in the Kanpur Test. He said that Bangladesh team has already overcome such complex situations and is capable of doing so again. But the truth is that Bangladesh team could not stay at the crease even for two full sessions on the fifth day.
Road to WTC final
The World Test Championship 2025 final is to be played next year and before that India has to play 8 more test matches. The equations were becoming such that if the India-Bangladesh Kanpur Test was cancelled, Team India’s place in the final could have been in danger. India is still on top in the table and its points percentage has increased to 74.24, while Australia is in second place with 62.50 points percentage.
India has still not been able to enter the finals because the Sri Lankan team is coming very fast, which remains in third place with 55.56 points percentage. If Sri Lanka wins both the Tests in the upcoming series against South Africa, then the hopes of either India or Australia of reaching the final may be dashed.
