38th National Games Yoga and Malkhamb: In the mascot ceremony of the 38th National Games of India, two traditional sports have been included in the national sports list. The 38th National Games is to be organized in Uttarakhand, hence they are being addressed by the name ‘Uttarakhand 2025’. Apart from Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present in the mascot ceremony held on Sunday 15 December. Meanwhile, good news was given that now Yoga and Malkhamb are also going to be a part of the National Games. Let us tell you that the 38th National Games will start from January 28 next year and will continue till February 14.
In this program organized at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun, Chief Minister Dhami also launched the National Games logo, Games anthem, torch, mascot Monal and jersey. CM Dhami said that on his request, the Indian Olympic Association has given permission to include Yoga and Malkhamb in the National Games. This time a total of 43 sports will be played in the National Games, in which like last time, more than 10 thousand athletes from across the country will be seen participating.
Sports University to be built in Uttarakhand
Chief Minister Dhami told in the same function that the government has made a provision of Rs 500 crore for the development of sports facilities in the state. Along with this, the CM also announced the establishment of a Sports University, where world-class facilities will be provided to the youth. Apart from developing stadiums for players, reconstruction of swimming pools, infrastructure for water sports and cycling, efforts are also underway to develop shooting ranges. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Youth and Sports Nikhil Khadse also mentioned the Indian Government’s dream of hosting the Olympics 2036. He said that tireless efforts are being made to hold the Olympic Games in India.
Prize money will double
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made many announcements in this program. Apart from 4 percent reservation for the players, he also stressed on the creation of a sports university. Along with this, he has also announced to double the prize money for winning medals in the National Games. Sports Minister in the Government of India, Mansukh Mandaviya also expressed happiness over this initiative.
