IND vs BAN 1st Test Day 1: The first match of the ongoing two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh has started on 19 September. Bangladesh has won the toss and decided to bowl first. After which the first day of the first match was full of ups and downs for the Indian team. By the end of the day, India reached a good position thanks to Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, but in the initial part of the game, Bangladesh put Team India under pressure.
The main reason for Bangladesh’s initial success was bowling after winning the toss, due to which they got full advantage of the pitch in the first hour. Apart from this, the accurate line-length of Bangladesh bowlers also kept creating problems for Team India. But among all these, the most special performance was of Hasan Mahmud, who exposed some big weaknesses of the Indian batting order with his sharp bowling.
1. Questions on Rohit Sharma’s slow start
In recent times, Rohit Sharma is known for his aggressive batting in limited overs cricket. But his slow start in Test cricket has become a matter of concern for the team. In this match too, Rohit spent time on the pitch batting cautiously, but the run rate remained slow. For the last two years, his strike rate in Test cricket has been around 60, which is considered a bit low in today’s fast-paced game. If Rohit had played a little more aggressively, perhaps India could have got a better start.
2. Shubman Gill’s lack of patience
Shubman Gill is considered to be the future star of India’s Test cricket, but in this match he lost his wicket at a time when the team needed him. Gill lost his wicket by playing unnecessary shots, which shows his lack of experience and patience. Gill needs to show more patience while batting at number three, especially in a long format like Test cricket, where every run matters.
3. Virat Kohli’s trouble outside the off-stump
Virat Kohli may have had a great career, but one of his old weaknesses came to the fore again against Hasan Mahmud. Kohli often loses his wicket while trying to drive balls outside the off stump. The same happened in this match as well, when Mahmud troubled him in this area. This problem can also become a cause of trouble for him in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Kohli will have to focus on this old weakness of his so that he can regain his rhythm.
