Questions raised on Rohit Sharma’s captaincy
These days, Rohit Sharma is facing criticism regarding his form in Test cricket. Veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar had recently said that if Rohit fails to score runs in the next two Test matches to be held in Melbourne and Sydney, then he himself may decide to step down from the captaincy of the team.
Sunil Gavaskar said while talking to ABC Sports on Tuesday, “I think Rohit will get a chance to play in the next two matches. But if he is not able to score runs, then I believe that he will step down from the captaincy himself. Very dedicated to cricket and would not like to be a burden on the team.”
Pujara-Karthik gave important suggestions
Batsman Cheteshwar Pujara believes that Rohit’s problem is related to the balls on the stump line. He told ESPNcricinfo, “Stump line balls are troubling him again and again. He is constantly getting LBW and bowled, which has become a big challenge for him.”
At the same time, wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik says that the reason for Rohit’s falling form could be his lack of confidence. Karthik told Cricbuzz, “Rohit Sharma has been playing international cricket for 17 years. It would be wrong to question his technique. However, he will have to prove himself by playing with confidence this time.”
He further said, “Rohit will have to show confidence in his game and try to stay at the crease. Team India needs a mentally strong Rohit Sharma at this time. If he is determined, he will be able to return to his form. Can.”
