Virat Kohli RCB Captain: Before the IPL 2025 mega auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore had retained Virat Kohli for Rs 21 crore. At the same time, rumors started flying that Virat wanted to captain the Bengaluru team again. Meanwhile, Kohli’s friend and former RCB teammate AB de Villiers has said that looking at the squad, only Virat can be seen captaining RCB in IPL 2025, although no official statement has been made on this yet. Virat Kohli had confirmed his decision to step down from the captaincy of RCB even before the start of IPL 2022. In such a situation, Faf du Plessis emerged as the new captain of the team, who will be seen playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025.
Kohli will not be able to break Dhoni’s record
Talking about Virat Kohli, he captained RCB in 143 matches in his IPL career, out of which the team was victorious on 66 occasions. He is the only player so far to captain the Bengaluru team in more than 100 matches. His win percentage as captain of RCB is 46.15.
On the other hand, MS Dhoni took charge of Chennai Super Kings in the year 2008 i.e. the first season of the Indian Premier League. Before leaving the captaincy in 2023, MS Dhoni led CSK in a record 235 matches. Under the captaincy of Dhoni, Chennai became IPL champion five times and while captaining in 235 matches, he led his team to victory on 142 occasions. To put it bluntly, it is almost impossible for Kohli to break the record of winning the most IPL matches as a captain, while it also seems to be a very difficult task for him to break the record of playing the most number of matches as a captain.
