ICC Test Cricket Plan: The craze for Test cricket has reduced due to T20 tournaments. ICC is making a special plan to save Test cricket. According to a report, ICC is planning to raise Rs 125 crore for Test cricket. This will be used to pay the salary of the players. Along with this, other expenses of the teams will also be taken care of. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has supported ICC. Due to many T20 leagues including Indian Premier League, Test cricket is now being liked less.
According to a report in ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’, Cricket Australia has proposed that a special fund be raised for Test cricket. BCCI secretary Jay Shah and the England and Wales Cricket Board have supported this plan. Jay Shah is currently leading the race to become the ICC president. The minimum match fees of Test cricketers will be increased with the funds raised by the ICC. Along with this, the expenses incurred on foreign tours will also be looked into.
Many players from India as well as other countries are preferring T20 over Tests. Players playing in IPL get a huge amount. Most of the West Indies players are preferring to play T20 over Tests. This is the reason why the craze for Test cricket is decreasing. But the important thing is that the funds that ICC will raise now are unlikely to benefit the players of India, Australia and England. These boards are already paying good salaries to their players.
If we talk about Australian cricketers, they also get a good salary like Indian players. Pat Cummins got around Rs 25 crore last year as Test and ODI captain. On the other hand, players who play regularly for Australia get Rs 8 to 16 crore.
