India Participation ICC Champions Trophy 2024: The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be held in February and March next year. There are about 6-7 months left for the tournament to be held, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) is surprised to know that the PCB has not yet made any special plans for India’s participation in the Champions Trophy. If we assess the current situation, there is currently doubt over the Indian team’s visit to Pakistan, for which it will have to take permission from the Indian government.
The Champions Trophy is to be held in Pakistan and the PCB’s stance is clear that it does not want to lose its hosting under any circumstances. India’s stance is also becoming clear that it wants a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, just like it was done during the Asia Cup 2023. There are also reports that if the hybrid model is not implemented, then Team India will not shy away from the decision to withdraw from this ICC tournament.
ICC will convince India!
On one hand, Team India wants a hybrid model, on the other hand, PCB is confident that ICC can convince the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to send its team to Pakistan. ICC has even approved the budget to hold India’s matches at some other place, but PCB has not given much emphasis on this matter. There are about 6 months left for the tournament to be organized, but Pakistan’s stand is clear that all the matches will be held in their country. According to the proposed schedule of Champions Trophy 2025, all the matches of India are to be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. But contrary to PCB’s stubbornness, if the hybrid model is implemented, then there is speculation that Team India’s matches will be held in Sri Lanka or Dubai.
