Rashid Latif On Hosting Rights To India And Pakistan: Pakistan has the right to host the Champions Trophy 2025. India has refused to tour Pakistan for the tournament. The schedule of the tournament has not been released yet. Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif gave a very surprising advice to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Rashid Latif said that until India and Pakistan resolve their mutual issues, the hosting rights should be taken away from them. Speaking to a TV channel, Rashid Latif said, “I suggest that ICC should take away the hosting rights of all global events from India and Pakistan for the 2024-2031 cycle. ICC should tell these boards that first Sort out all the issues and then we will give you the hosting rights.”
There has been a denial from India’s side
According to the information received so far from media reports, Team India has been refused by the Government of India to tour Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. After this, efforts are being made to conduct the tournament under hybrid model. However, no official information of any kind has been revealed regarding this yet.
Let us tell you that Team India last visited Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup. Since then, due to tension between the two countries, Team India never visited Pakistan. However, since 2008, Pakistan team has visited Team India on several occasions.
Pakistan was also scheduled to host the 2023 Asia Cup, but Team India did not tour the neighboring country and the tournament was played under the hybrid model. All the matches of the Indian team were hosted by Sri Lanka.
