ICC Meeting Champions Trophy Postponed: ICC has postponed its meeting on the Champions Trophy issue. According to sources, the date of the meeting has been extended from December 5 to December 7. Earlier this meeting was scheduled to be held on December 5, where Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was to give its decision on the hybrid model. The meeting was held today, but after some discussion, the ICC again demanded the PCB to accept the hybrid model. According to India Today, the Pakistan Board has not yet presented its stand on the Champions Trophy issue.
Recently PCB had shown negative attitude towards accepting the hybrid model. After some time it was said that Pakistan would accept it, but some conditions were also presented. One of these conditions was that the hybrid model should be implemented for Pakistan in ICC events held in India. Let us also tell you that there are less than three months left for the Champions Trophy, but the schedule has not been announced yet.
The International Cricket Council has already made it clear to the PCB that the only option left for Pakistan to move ahead is the hybrid model. Earlier on November 29, a meeting of all 12 ICC full member countries was held, but after that no result could be achieved. These days, the grounds of Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi are being renovated rapidly, Champions Trophy matches are to be played in these grounds. The hybrid model issue is becoming deeper with the passage of time. Jay Shah has taken over as the new ICC Chairman from December 1. On December 5, he met ICC and the Board of Directors.
