PCB Hybrid Model Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has accepted the hybrid model for Champions Trophy 2025. Under this, India will play its matches in the Champions Trophy at some other venue instead of Pakistan. Meanwhile, a new report has shocked everyone because now there are reports of a split inside the PCB. Let us tell you that ICC has announced that under the hybrid model, it will play its matches in Dubai, while the rest of the tournament will be played in Pakistan.
Sources quoted by IANS have said that some PCB officials are not happy with the acceptance of the hybrid model. It has been told in this report that there is an uproar within the board and many people are not happy with how the Chairman of the Pakistan Board has fallen prey to the tricks of the ICC. Let us tell you that veteran cricketer Rashid Latif is also one of those people who are not happy with Pakistan adopting the hybrid model.
What did Pakistan get in return for the hybrid model?
Pakistan’s condition was that if the Indian team does not come across the border to play the Champions Trophy, then the hybrid model should be implemented for the Pakistani team in any ICC event to be held in India in the next 3 years. This condition of Pakistan has been accepted. To adopt the hybrid model, ICC has also assured Pakistan of hosting an ICC women’s event after 2027.
Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali had lashed out at ICC on this issue. He said, “You know what a lollipop is. ICC has given a lollipop to the PCB. If you accept it, do not ask for anything in writing but we assure you of hosting another ICC event. Let’s give. This will not benefit Pakistan.” Basit Ali said that instead of hosting the women’s event, Pakistan should stake claim to host the Asia Cup next year.
