ICC Calls Board Meeting For Champions Trophy 2025: Champions Trophy 2025 is to be hosted by Pakistan. The schedule of the tournament has not been released yet. Team India has reportedly refused to tour Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, due to which there is a delay in releasing the schedule. According to media reports, ICC has decided to hold a board meeting to resolve this issue.
According to the report of ESPNcricinfo, a board meeting is to be held by the ICC on Friday, November 29. The schedule of the Champions Trophy is to be discussed in this meeting. The Champions Trophy is scheduled to start in February 2025, but the official schedule is yet to be announced.
All members may be asked to vote for solutions in the meeting. The Board consists of representatives from the 12 Full Member Member States, three representatives from the Associates, the ICC President and the CEO along with one independent director.
If the tournament is held in hybrid model
Reportedly the Indian government has refused to allow the team to tour Pakistan. On the other hand, Pakistan is adamant that it will host the tournament in its country. If a hybrid model is adopted for the tournament, then reports said that India or South Africa can be made the host.
India last visited Pakistan in 2008
It is worth noting that Team India last visited Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup. After this, in view of the increasing tension between the two countries, Team India stopped touring Pakistan. After this, gradually the bilateral series between the two teams also stopped.
However, Pakistan team continued to tour India. Pakistan team has visited India on several occasions since 2008. Pakistan also toured India in the ODI World Cup played in 2023.
