Famous actor Vijay Verma is playing an important role in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack series. Apart from him, Naseeruddin Shah, Kumud Mishra, Vijay Verma, Patralekha, Manoj Pahwa, Pankaj Kapoor, Dia Mirza and Pooja Gaur are also a part of it. There was a controversy over the Hindu names of the terrorists ‘Bhola’ and ‘Shankar’. People even demanded a ban on the series and also talked about boycotting it. But amidst the controversy, the real names of Pakistani terrorists have been added to the series. These include Ibrahim Athar, Shahid Akhtar Saeed, Sunny Ahmed Qazi, Mistry Zahoor Ibrahim and Shakir.

While Ibrahim Athar’s name was shown as ‘Chief’, Shahid Akhtar Saeed’s name as ‘Doctor’ and Sunny Ahmed Qazi’s name was shown as ‘Burger’. But now it is being shown with a change in the disclaimer of the series.
On which incident is ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ based?
‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ is based on the true incident of 1999 when an Indian Airlines flight flying from Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu, Nepal) to Indira Gandhi International Airport (New Delhi) was hijacked by the five terrorists mentioned above. The terrorists hijacked the flight and took it to Kandahar in Afghanistan.
