I Want To Talk Review: It is not that films have never been made before on the life threatening diseases faced by the hero or heroine of a film. But Shoojit Sircar’s film ‘I Want to Talk’ is quite different from all of them, both at the level of sensitivities and also in terms of presenting the film’s unique story and its characters in a very different style. It is noteworthy that films like ‘I Want to Talk’ show that films are made not only to entertain the audience but also to see, understand and feel life from a different perspective.
While watching the film ‘I Want to Talk’, you will initially feel that this film will be based on the life-threatening disease of Abhishek Bachchan i.e. Arjun Sen, his struggle with cancer and ultimately his victory over cancer. But director Shoojit Sircar, through his film, tries to deeply explore Arjun Sen’s battle with cancer as well as his tense relationship with his daughter Reya, which gives a different dimension to ‘I Want to Talk’. Is.
The manner in which Abhishek Bachchan, who became Arjun Sen battling cancer in ‘I Want to Talk’, has been presented on screen is not only very different, but his relationship with the pain and suffering he faced during the treatment will touch your heart – There will be a deep impact on the mind also. Along with this, you will also get such information about a rare type of cancer that is troubling Arjun Sen that you will hate the word ‘cancer’ even more.
In the film, Abhishek Bachchan has given a wonderful performance as Arjun Sen, a man who is struggling for a long time to improve his relationship with his daughter along with cancer. The body transformation of Abhishek Bachchan, who has adopted the changes in his body after undergoing surgery after surgery, and the acting done by him in different phases is worth watching. In terms of acting, this is one of the best films of Abhishek Bachchan because playing such complex characters is quite challenging for any actor. Ahilya Bamru has also played her character well as Abhishek Bachchan’s college going daughter in the film.
Shoojit Sircar has made this film on the life of his close friend Arjun Sen, who lives in America, a glimpse of whom and his vivacity we get a chance to meet at the end of the film. As a filmmaker, Shoojit Sircar has also taken the help of fictionality in this real story, which is a common thing for cinema, but has not taken such liberty that it seems unreal.
It is not that there are no flaws in Shoojit Sircar’s film ‘I Want to Talk’, which deeply explores pain and relationships through cancer. The story of this film, made keeping a different perspective from mainstream cinema, progresses very slowly at some places and the grip of the script also seems to be lax at some places. It is also strange to completely ignore Arjun Sen’s wife, who was divorced from him, on screen and not show her even once. Even after growing up, it hurts not to understand daughter Reya’s father Arjun Sen. However, the way the misunderstandings between father and daughter are shown going away in the end and both of them embracing each other will bring tears to your eyes.
Shoojit Sircar, who has made films like ‘Yahan’, ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Piku’, ‘October’, ‘Udham’, ‘Gulabo Sitabo’, is a filmmaker who brings the fabric of relationships to the level of reality and shows it on the big screen. But know how to present it with depth and beauty. ‘I Want to Talk’ is one such sensitive offering of his which needs to be seen from a different perspective. Despite some questions that come to mind while watching the film and some flaws of the film, this film proves successful in touching the heart to a great extent.
