Who is Pam Kaur: This is the first time in the 160-year history of global bank HSBC that the bank has appointed a woman as its Chief Technical Officer (CFO). This news is special because this bank was established in 1865 and since then, i.e. for the first time in 159 years, HSBC has given one of its chief positions to a woman.
This news is also special because Pam Kaur is the first woman of Indian origin who has been given this responsibility. Pam Kaur has done MBA from Punjab University in India and now she is making her mark in the global banking sector. With this, Pam Kaur has included her name in the list of women who have achieved senior positions in the field of global banking.
Women’s participation increased in high profile positions of big banks
With this appointment, Pam Kaur becomes on par with Citi CEO Jane Fraser, Morgan Stanley CFO Sharon Yeshaya, JP Morgan’s Mary Erdoz, Marianne Lake and Jennifer Piepszak. It is clear that the participation of women in high profile positions of big banks is increasing. Now by giving this responsibility to Pam Kaur, HSBC has indicated that efforts are increasing to bring women into bigger roles.
Pam Kaur joined HSBC in April 2013
Pam Kaur is currently 60 years old and she joined HSBC in April 2013. Before this she was working in Deutsche Bank. He came a long way from the role of Risk and Compliance Group Chief and achieved the post of CFO. Before HSBC, Pam Kaur held risk and audit positions at Citibank. He has served Lloyds Banking Group as well as Royal Bank of Scotland.
Recently appointed new CEO of HSBC, Elhedary has expressed hope that during the tenure of Pam Kaur, the bank will reach new heights and the gender equality ratio in the institute will also be increased.
