Applying free seats for nursery, KG and Class-1 in private schools in Delhi has started today, from 3 February 2025. Parents who want EWS (economically weaker sections), DG (poor class) and CWSN (children with special requirements) under categories can apply online by 19 February 2025. On completion of eligibility, children will get admission through lucky draw.
The first computerized draw for free admission in private schools in Delhi will be held on 3 March 2025, after which the seats will be allocated. The new academic session will begin this year from April 1, the draw process is being started first, which will give children in EWS category an opportunity to start studying with selected children for general seats.
Application fee for EWS admission
These admissions are under the RTE (Right to Education) Act under free school admission scheme, so no fee will be charged for the application. Parents are urged to read Delhi EWS Admission notification 2025-26 carefully and only then apply. 75% seats in private schools in Delhi are for general admission, while 25% seats are reserved for EWS/DG/CWSN categories.
Income limit for EWS admission
The annual income limit for EWS category has been kept less than Rs 5 lakh. In addition, private primary schools recognized by MCD and MDMC will also participate in this lottery process.
Edge Limit for EWS admission
- Nursery (elementary school) admission: 3 to 5 years
- KG (Elementary Education) Admission: 4 to 6 years
- Class 1 Admission: 5 to 7 years (till 31 March 2022)
Age limit for children with special requirements: - Nursery: 3 to 7 years
- KG: 4 to 8 years
- Class 1: 5 to 9 years
How to apply for EWS admission
Parents can apply online for Nursery, KG and Class 1 under EWS/CWSN categories in private schools in Delhi. The application portal is available on the official website of Delhi Education Directorate from 3 February 2025: www.edudel.nic.in
Follow these steps to apply,
- Go to the website of Delhi Education Directorate (edudel.nic.in).
- Click on the “EWS/DG/Freeship Admissions” tab on the homepage.
- After the link is activated, click on the link “EWS delhi Free School Admission Application Form 2025-26”.
- First register, then sign in to fill the form and upload the required documents.
