Hemant Rao Angry On IIFA Awards: IIFA Awards 2024 was recently held in Abu Dhabi. This award show was hosted by Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan along with actor Vicky Kaushal and filmmaker Karan Johar. During this period, many famous personalities participated in the IIFA Awards.
Shahrukh Khan was awarded the Best Actor award during IIFA Awards 2024. Aishwarya Rai and Rani Mukherjee received the Best Actress award. Now a director has expressed anger regarding IIFA Awards. South’s director Hemant Rao has made a long post on social media calling IIFA Awards insulting.
I sat up till 3 in the morning
Kannada cinema director Hemanta Rao got angry after not getting the Best Director award. He wrote in a long post on social Instagram, ‘The entire IIFA experience was a huge inconvenience and extremely humiliating. I have been in this industry for more than a decade and this was not my first experience at an award show. It has always been the case that the winners are flown in and hosted for the event. For example, I sat up till 3 in the morning and then I realized there was no award. Same thing happened with my music director Charan Raj.
Nominated persons were not even mentioned
Hemant further wrote in the post, ‘This is your award. You can give it to whoever you want. It’s your choice. I haven’t won a lot of awards and I haven’t lost sleep over it, so these grapes aren’t that sour. If all the other nominees were invited and one of them emerged the winner, I wouldn’t have bothered. Also, this year’s format was only to give awards. The nominated persons were not even mentioned.
I don’t need your award
South cinema director Hemanta Rao did not stop here. He further wrote, ‘Maybe it took some time for you and your team to realize this. Your awards ceremonies are driven by the talent presented on your stage, not the other way around. I don’t need your awards to enjoy the best job in the world. Next time you will need me on your stage and I am sure it will happen. Take your prize and keep it somewhere where the sun doesn’t shine.’
