According to research, people suffering from PDAC were 6 times more likely to develop gall bladder stones in the year before cancer diagnosis. This discovery could lead to early detection of one of the most deadly cancers. PDAC is the most common form of pancreas cancer, accounting for more than 90% of cases. It is detected late, making treatment more difficult and reducing the chances of survival. Usually this disease becomes visible only after it progresses.

Connection between Gall Stones and Pancreas Cancer
A study presented at the 2022 Digestive Disease Week conference analyzed the medical records of 18,700 people with PDAC and compared them with nearly 1 lakh people without cancer. The researchers found that 4.7% of cancer patients had gallstones and 1.6% had undergone gallbladder removal surgery in the year before PDAC diagnosis. Meanwhile, among people without cancer, only 0.8% had gallstones and only 0.3% had their gallstones removed.

The results of this research show that gall stones can be a warning sign for PDAC. However, researchers say that gall stones themselves do not cause pancreas cancer. Apart from this, there can be many other factors also.
