Non-Smokers Lung Cancer: When it comes to cancer, a fear enters the heart. Lung cancer is spreading as the third largest cancer in America and Asian countries. The American Cancer Society said in a report that after prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women, lung cancer patients are increasing at the fastest rate.
It is generally said that lung cancer is caused by smoking. But recently the American Cancer Society said that lung cancer is rapidly affecting non-smokers as well. In such a situation, the question arises that apart from smoking, what are the other reasons due to which lung cancer is spreading rapidly among people.
Lung cancer cases are increasing in non-smokers
The study says that in India, America and many Asian countries, lung cancer patients are coming up who do not smoke and have never touched drugs. This new theory of non-smoker lung cancer patients is surprising. But in the last few years, after studying other reasons apart from smoking, it was found that despite not smoking bidi or cigarette, people are getting affected by lung cancer.
The frightening reality
The American Cancer Society says that about 80 percent of all lung cancer deaths are of smokers. Apart from this, 20 percent are of those who do not smoke. This means that lung cancer also occurs due to exposure to genetic and other reasons.
Causes of lung cancer other than smoking
These causes include exposure to secondhand smoking (passive smoking), air pollution, working in mines (stone and coal mines) and factories, exposure to diesel, asbestos (a mineral found in rocks and soil that is fibrous and enters the body through breathing) and exposure to radon gas.
Talking about radon gas, even non-smokers who come in contact with this gas can become victims of lung cancer. Experts say that radon gas has no color or smell and it cannot be seen. This gas usually comes out from rocks, stones, sand, soil, burning coal and fossil fuel and is considered to be the cause of lung cancer.
