WPL 2025 Most Expensive Player Retained: All five teams have released their retention lists for the Women’s Premier League 2025. Famous players like Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar have been retained, but many big names have also been released. If we look at the retention list, Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana will remain the captains of Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) respectively in WPL 2025. But the question is, which of those players has been retained for a higher amount?
Under her captaincy, Harmanpreet Kaur made Mumbai Indians the champion of the first season in WPL. Under the captaincy of Smriti Mandhana, RCB won the WPL 2024 title. Harmanpreet is the captain of Team India while Smriti is the current vice-captain. So let us know who among them will get more money to play the next season?
Whose salary is more?
Smriti Mandhana was retained by RCB before the first season for Rs 3.4 crore and she has been retained at the same salary. Even though there has been no increase in her salary, she still remains the most expensive player in WPL history. On the other hand, Harmanpreet Kaur has also been retained by Mumbai Indians at her old salary i.e. Rs 1.8 crore. Like Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur’s salary has also not increased after the first season.
If we look at the records of both the players in the history of WPL, Harmanpreet has so far scored 549 runs in 17 matches at an average of 45.75. On the other hand, Smriti Mandhana has played 18 matches so far, in which she has 449 runs in her name. Harmanpreet and Smriti are at fourth and seventh place respectively in terms of scoring most runs in WPL history.
