Gulbadin Naib Fined 15 Percent Match Fees: Afghanistan team is currently on Zimbabwe tour. A three-match T20 series is being played between the two. ICC imposed a heavy fine on Afghanistan’s star all-rounder Gulbadin Naib for showing disagreement with the umpire in the second match of the series. Gulbadin Naib was also accused of faking injury during the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Talking about the latest ICC fine imposed on Naib, he was fined 15 percent of his match fee. The ICC fined Gulbadin for violating Level 1 of the Code of Conduct.
The ICC said that Naib has been punished for violating Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This case is related to showing disagreement on the umpire’s decision during an international match.
What was the whole matter?
The match took place during the 11th over of Zimbabwe’s innings when captain Rashid Khan’s LBW appeal against Tashinga Musekiwa was rejected. DRS was not present in the match. During this, Naib registered his disagreement with the umpire’s decision.
Afghanistan won the match
In the second match of the series, Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat and scored 153/6 runs on the board in 20 overs. During this, Darvesh Rasooli played the biggest innings for the team and scored 58 runs in 42 balls with the help of 6 fours and 1 six. During this period, Trevor Gwandu and Ryan Burl took 2-2 wickets for Zimbabwe.
Then, while chasing the target, Zimbabwe team was all out for 103 runs in 17.4 overs. Captain Sikandar Raza played the biggest innings for the team, scoring 35 runs in 30 balls with the help of 2 fours and 1 six. However, his innings could not bring victory to the team. During this period, fast bowler Naveen Ul Haq took maximum 3 wickets for Afghanistan.
