Gujarat Titans Retention List: IPL 2022 champion Gujarat Titans proved to be one of the worst teams of the last season. Now it has been revealed that Gujarat has decided to retain Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan for IPL 2025. Apart from him, there is news of Shahrukh Khan being retained as an uncapped player. Recall that GT had to be content with eighth place in the points table last season.
An IPL source quoted by PTI said that Gujarat can retain Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan and Sai Sudarshan. Apart from them, Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan can be retained as uncapped players. Gill was the captain of Gujarat team last season and in case of being retained, it is possible that he may get the responsibility of captaincy again.
Shubman Gill scored 426 runs in 12 matches for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024, but the previous season was historic for him. In 2023, a total of 890 runs came from his bat and he made an important contribution in taking GT to the finals. Talking about Rashid Khan, he took 19 wickets in the first season with Gujarat and a total of 27 wickets in 2023. But in IPL 2024 he could take only 10 wickets.
If Gujarat is going to retain three players, then as per BCCI’s retention policy, it will have to spend a total of Rs 43 crore on Shubhman Gill, Rashid Khan and Sai Sudarshan. At the same time, to retain Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan as uncapped players, GT’s purse will be emptied by Rs 8 crore. This means that Gujarat management can enter the auction with Rs 69 crore.
