A new initiative has been started to alert people about the increasing cases of cyber crime in the country. The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Home Ministry has given the order to the Department of Telecommunications. It says that to increase awareness among the people, telecom companies will have to install caller-tune and pre-caller tune. In these caller tunes, people will be told ways to avoid cyber crime. This caller tune will play 8-10 times every day.
The campaign will run for 3 months
This campaign will run for 3 months. In this, people will be alerted about cyber crime through different messages through caller tune. In this it will be told what to do if a fraudster impersonates a police officer or a judge. It is noteworthy that in the last few months, cases like digital arrest have increased in the country, in which fraudsters, posing as fake officers, call people and defraud them of their hard-earned money. Apart from this, people are being made victims of cyber crisis on the pretext of KYC update, new offers etc.
The government has been trying to crack down on these crimes for a long time, but every time fraudsters are devising new methods to trap people in their clutches. Recently, the government had blocked more than 6 lakh SIM cards used in such cases.
Resolved about 10 lakh complaints
The central government recently told Parliament that it has ‘block’6.69 lakh SIM cards and 1,32,000 IMEI numbers till November 15, 2024, in an effort to control cyber crimes. Have done. It was also informed that the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal has helped in saving more than Rs 3,431 crore through resolution of 9.94 lakh complaints.
