This is how to install Ganpati on Ganesh Chaturthi (Ganesh Chaturthi Murti Sthapana Vidhi)
- On the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, after taking bath etc., wear clean yellow or red clothes. Take a vow to fast.
- Place the puja chowki in the north-east direction and spread a red or white cloth on it. Decorate Bappa’s tableau. It would be auspicious to use fragrant flowers and mango leaves.
- Place some rice on the pedestal and install the idol of Ganesha in the auspicious time. Install the Kalash on the right side of Ganpati.
- Put water, mango leaves, coin, whole rice in the Kalash and put a coconut on top of it and tie a sacred thread on it.
- Offer kumkum, sandalwood, turmeric, vermillion, mehndi, gulal, whole rice grains, abir, gulal, red flowers, cloves, cardamom, betel leaf, sacred thread and coconut to Lord Ganesha.
- Make Durva in pairs and offer it. Offer Laddu or Modak as Prasad. Listen to the story of Ganesh Chaturthi. In the end, do Aarti, offer flowers and then distribute Prasad to everyone.
