Game Changer Review: Director Shankar, who has given many excellent films to South Indian cinema for the last 25 years, is debuting in Telugu cinema with the film Game Changer. Ram Charan is also coming with his solo film after RRR.
Story
The story is between an honest officer and a corrupt leader. After working in the police department, Ram Nandan (Ram Charan) becomes a collector after passing IAS. The reason behind doing this is his girlfriend Deepika (Kiara Advani), who wants him to show his anger in the right direction. Mopidevi (Aj Surya), son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Satyamurthy (Srikanth), dreams of replacing his father and becoming the Chief Minister himself, but before his death, Satyamurthy appoints Ram Nandan as the Chief Minister instead of his son. There is a special reason behind doing this, which is revealed after the interval. It would not be right to mention it here also.
How is the movie?
The movie is boring, long and very loud. Although Pushpa 2: The Rule was also loud, logic was not expected in that too, but the film was entertaining. For which the audience comes to the theatre. Game Changer proves weak in this matter. It is reported that the film has been made for approximately Rs 450 crore. A lot of expenditure is spent on the songs only. The action is strong, but not surprising. Ramcharan does a better fight than the climax in his entry scene at the beginning of the film. The rest of the film’s sets are spectacular, for which Shankar is known. Shankar experiments a lot technically, although his shortcomings are visible in this. The comedy is also of a very old style, which does not accompany the story but comes separately in some scenes. At some places it seems that the film is becoming like a hero, where the hero of the film dismisses anyone from his job in one fell swoop. If the story of the film had been written well according to today’s generation, perhaps it could have been a better film.
acting
This is Ramcharan’s solo film after RRR film. The entire responsibility was on his strong shoulders, which Ram Charan has also fulfilled. He is in a double role in the film. He will surprise you with the role he has played after the interval. From action scenes to emotional scenes, he proves why he is a superstar. Understand that if there is anything worth watching in the film, it is only Ramcharan. Kiara Advani just looks beautiful. There was nothing special for him in the film. SJ Surya impresses in the negative role of a corrupt leader.
Direction and writing
Shankar has directed and screenplay the film. It is almost certain that there will be some message in his films. In his previous film Indian 2 also, Indian stands against corruption. There is a conflict between an honest officer and a corrupt politician, the importance of voting is explained, yet the film does not make an impact. The story is not new, such a story can be found in Shankar’s own films. Seeing an IPS officer first becoming an IAS, then Chief Minister and then Election Officer, traveling by helicopter, doing work which is beyond his limits, it seems that Shankar has brought a film of that era. All this information is available on the internet, hence the lack of research is clearly visible.
music
The producers have spent a lot of money on the video and production of the songs. Especially on the song Jaragandi Auk Dhoop, but if you are thinking that you will come out humming its lyrics, then nothing like this will happen. Even the songs vanish as soon as they leave the theatre.
Rating – two stars
