Cyber Fraud Case: Cyber fraud cases are increasing rapidly in the country. Scammers have now adopted a new method of cyber fraud. Actually, recently a new cyber fraud has come to light. In this case, Uttarakhand Police, in collaboration with the Home Ministry, has busted an international cyber fraud racket. This gang used to do SIM card related fraud and has done scams up to Rs 1 crore with scammers.
20 thousand SIM cards recovered
The accused have sold 20 thousand SIM cards so far. These included scammers from India as well as China, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam and Malaysia. This gang used to provide them Indian SIM cards. While busting this gang, the police said that fraud was carried out with its help. Police said that we have recovered 1,816 SIM cards, 2 check books, five mobile phones and 2 biometric devices from the accused.
How was the SIM card used?
These SIM cards were used in different ways. People were given fake luring. It was said that a government scheme is running and they will have to provide ID. After this a SIM card was issued in his name. Then fraud was done using this SIM card. Also, by fooling people, information up to their bank details was obtained.
Used to go home and give reference of free ration
Not only this, this gang used to go to people’s homes and offer free ration. In the name of ration card, samples of their ID and biometrics were taken from the people. Fraud was done with its help. This matter was gradually increasing.
