Just before the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to America, former US President Donald Trump has launched a big attack on India. He has alleged that India misuses trade relations a lot. Trump has said such things even while he was the President of America.
This comment of former US President Donald Trump becomes important and sensitive for many reasons. His comment has come at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is about to visit America. Donald Trump was the President of America before the current US President Joe Biden. Elections are going to be held there again at the end of this year and Donald Trump is leading the race.
Trump made this comment about India
Trump spoke about India while addressing an election rally in Michigan. He said that India misuses trade relations. India charges huge duties on imports, which is unfair. Trump also named Brazil and China. He said that Brazil and China also impose tough trade terms on America, but the biggest challenges come from China.
Trump called PM Modi great
The former US President, while criticising India, also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Describing PM Modi as a wonderful person, he said that he is going to visit America next week and will meet Trump during that time.
PM Modi’s visit begins after two days
PM Modi is going on a visit to America between 21 September and 23 September. PM Modi will participate in the Quad Leaders Summit. Apart from PM Modi, US President Donald Trump, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio will also participate in the summit. During the US visit, PM Modi will address the Summit of the Future in the United Nations General Assembly. He will also address a large program of the people of the Indian community in Long Island.
Trump has targeted India earlier also
Donald Trump has earlier also criticized India for its trade policies and import duties. During his tenure, not only did the US have trade tensions with China, but India also came under his target. During his presidential tenure, Donald Trump had attacked India’s trade policies by giving the example of American cult bike Harley Davidson.
