Lalchand Rajput On Hardik Pandya: Hardik Pandya was not made the captain of India’s T20 team. Suryakumar Yadav was made the captain of India’s T20 team on the Sri Lanka tour in place of the Indian all-rounder. Hardik Pandya was seen as the vice-captain of Team India in the 2024 T20 World Cup held in June, after which his becoming the next captain was considered certain. Many reasons came to light behind Hardik not becoming the captain. Now former Team India batsman Lalchand Rajput has justified the decision of not making Hardik the captain.
Lalchand Rajput has indeed given a shocking statement on Hardik Pandya. He believes that by not being the captain, Hardik will be able to play more freely. The management wants Hardik to perform well, for which it is right for him not to be the captain.
Talking to ‘Hindustan Times’, Lalchand Rajput said, “I think the selectors must have thought like the coach. The management wants Hardik to perform well. If they relieve him from captaincy, he can play freely and give his best with bat and ball. I had heard Ajit Agarkar’s press conference, he had said that he remains unfit most of the time. He wanted a captain who is fit to play all the matches. This would have tilted the favor towards Suryakumar Yadav.”
He further said about Suryakumar Yadav, “Surya has also been the captain of the Mumbai Ranji team and started early in the T20 format. He will lead the team in the best possible manner.”
Lalchand Rajput wants to see Hardik in Test cricket
On Hardik Pandya playing Tests, Lalchand Rajput said, “I would like to see him in red ball cricket as well. He is a player who can change the course of the game in all three formats. If he does well in red ball cricket, he can prove his importance in the team.”
