Dilip Vengsarkar on Test Cricket: The Indian team had to face a shameful defeat in the home test series against New Zealand. The Kiwi team gave a clean sweep to India in the three-match Test series. Since then, Team India is being discussed everywhere. No one can believe that the Indian team lost like this at home. Meanwhile, former Indian legend Dilip Vengsarkar has given a big statement on Test cricket. He has demanded change in the format of Test cricket.
Dilip Vengsarkar, former captain of the Indian cricket team and a legendary player of his time, believes that the time has come when five-day Test matches should be stopped. He believes that now Test matches should be played for four days instead of five.
Speaking to TOI, Dilip Vengsarkar said, “Now Test matches should be reduced to four days. Most of the matches are now ending in four days only. Apart from this, except India, England and Australia, the rest of the cricket boards are in financial trouble. The situation is not good. In such a situation, they will be able to save on their expenses if there are four days of testing.”
He further said, “For a team like West Indies, going to another country for Test matches and playing for five days is a very expensive task. When the matches are also ending in three days, then selling tickets for five days is also not appropriate.” .”
Test matches should be held only in big cities of India
Dilip Vengsarkar also gave a big statement regarding the venue of test matches in India. He believes that Test matches should be played only in big cities of India. He said, the support given by the people of Mumbai to Test cricket was wonderful and tremendous. During this series, apart from Mumbai, other venues did not receive that many spectators. I think Test cricket should be played in India only in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai. ODI and T20 matches can be held at other places.
