Dinesh Karthik Reaction Virat Kohli Number 3 Batting: In the first Test match between India and New Zealand being played in Bengaluru, Team India was all out for just 46 runs. India’s batting remains the center of discussion, but meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s batting order has also come into limelight. Kohli usually comes to bat at number-4, but against New Zealand he came to bat at number-3. Now former cricketer Dinesh Karthik has slammed coach Gautam Gambhir for sending Kohli up to bat.
Enraged former cricketer
During a discussion at a media organisation, Dinesh Karthik said, “I am not defending Virat Kohli. He has the technique and passion that make him one of the greatest batsmen in history. I would like to see changes within the team if If I do, I will keep the batsman in the order where he can do well, this change will not happen because I want to protect Kohli.”
Karthik continued his talk and said that Kohli comes at number-3 in ODI, opens in T20 and now it can be said that the ball has changed in Test cricket, in which there is not much movement. Karthik clearly said that the best position for Kohli to bat in Test cricket is number-4.
If not Kohli, then who is at number 3?
Dinesh Karthik also suggested that coach Gautam Gambhir should have promoted KL Rahul instead of Virat Kohli at number-3. According to Karthik, Kohli himself should have protested against the coach’s statement and said that he wants to continue batting at number 4 only. According to the former cricketer, KL Rahul can prove to be a better option as the number-3 batsman.
It is also worth noting that Virat Kohli’s figures at number 3 are not very good. He has played 7 innings in Test matches while batting at number three, in which he has been able to score only 97 runs at an average of around 16.
