Pre-Budget Meeting: The budget for the financial year 2025-26 will be presented on 1 February 2025 and for this, a series of meetings is going on with the Finance Minister. In this series, on Friday, December 20, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a pre-budget meeting with the finance ministers of the states of the country. This important meeting is going to be held before the Budget 2025, in which the Finance Ministers of the states are going to tell what their expectations are from the country’s budget and put a box of recommendations in front of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Meeting with Finance Ministers to be held in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
This meeting with Finance Ministers is going to be held in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan and many big recommendations are expected to be approved in it. A government official, on the condition of anonymity, said that this meeting is also important because many circumstances have changed after the recent state elections. Many Finance Ministers can place demands for giving special status to their states and can place demands for various types of financial packages in front of the Finance Minister.
The meeting is especially special for Maharashtra
If seen, Maharashtra may demand fiscal support especially for its Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Maharashtra is planning to create a centralized area or hub for MSMEs and request a special package for this sector.
GST Council meeting will also be held in Jaisalmer
Along with this pre-budget meeting, the Finance Minister has to chair the 55th meeting of the GST Council on 21 December 2024 in Jaisalmer itself. The Finance Minister is going to participate in the GST Council meeting on Friday with the Finance Ministers and on Saturday with GST officials, Revenue Secretary, Finance Secretary and economic advisors.
