Post Office Accounts KYC: If you have a savings account in a post office, then you have to go to the post office every three years to get your KYC done. You have to go there and submit documents related to your identity and address. But India Post is going to give you relief from this problem. Now you will not need to go to post office to get KYC done. The entire process will be completed online while sitting at home.
India Post is going to start it in Karnataka. This will benefit 1 crore 90 lakh postal account holders of Karnataka. Karnataka Chief Postmaster General Rajendra S Kumar said that as per the guidelines of the Reserve Bank, there will be no need to go to the post office with the originals to submit KYC related documents every three years. This will be done through online Aadhaar authentication sitting at home.
Physical biometric finger print verification will end
Savings bank account holders in the post office still have to go to the post office physically to get their KYC done every three years and get their verification done through biometric finger print. Chief PMG of Karnataka said that we are going to include this process in our mobile app. Anyone can complete this process sitting at home by downloading this app on their mobile.
Documents will be uploaded on the website
Before doing fingerprint verification on the mobile app, account holders will have to login to the e-banking option on the India Post website indiapost.gov.in. Then you will have to upload all your KYC related documents there. The biggest advantage of this facility is that you can open an account in the post office even without carrying the original documents. The Postal Department will confirm your identity through Aadhaar authentication. After this you can do any kind of operation related to accounts.
