Dussehra 2024: People only know about Ravana Dahan on the day of Dussehra, but many people do not know that on the day of Dussehra, Lord Ram started his victory journey from Kishkindha after receiving the blessings of Mother Bhavani and performed Shastra Puja on the day of Dussehra. What is the meaning of Dussehra?
According to the scriptures, according to Brahma Purana 60.15, the meaning of Dussehra is considered to be the destruction of ten sins, according to Skanda Purana Uttarardh 3.52.92, the sins of ten births are destroyed on Dussehra.
On the day of Dussehar, Ram ji started the Vijay Yatra.
Dussehra or Vijay Dashami means the tenth day of Navratri. According to Devi Purana 3.27.49, on the day of Dashami, Lord Ram completed the Navratri fast of Goddess Ji and left for Lanka from Kishkindha, hence it is called Vijay Dashami. Lord Ram had sought blessings of victory from the Goddess, hence people perform Shastra Puja on the day of Vijay Dashami.

According to Bhavishya Purana Uttar Parva Chapter 138, the person who hopes for victory should worship his scriptures on Vijay Dashami.
Victory celebration after defeating Ravana on the day of Dussehra: –
According to Kalika Purana 60.26–38, Ravana died on Ashwin Navami and Vijay Utsav was celebrated on Dashami day (Vyatee Saptame Ratre Navamyan Ravanam Tatah. Ramen Ghatayamaas Mahamaya Jaganmayi).
