Football Match Canceled In Kolkata: There are many protests in Kolkata against the rape and murder of the doctor. The situation in the city is not good, due to which the football match scheduled for Sunday was canceled. Durand Cup 2024 is going on these days. In the tournament, a match was to be played between Mohun Bagan Super Giants and Emami East Bengal on Sunday, August 18 at 7 pm, which has been canceled.
The tournament organizers took this decision in view of the ongoing protests in the city. After the match is cancelled, both the teams will be given 1-1 point. This was the last match of Group A. There was a strong expectation of a huge crowd of fans in the match, but due to the unusual conditions in the city, it was decided to cancel the match.
The information about the cancellation of the match was shared through the Durand Cup’s social media. Apart from this, in another update, it was told that all the spectators who bought tickets online and offline will be refunded. Many media reports said that the matches to be held in Kolkata can be shifted to Jamshedpur.

Both teams won the last two matches
Let us tell you that Mohan Bagan Super Giants and Emami East Bengal, present in Group-A, have won both their matches and have secured the first and second position respectively in the group’s points table. Mohan Bagan won the first match against Downtown Heroes FC, while they got the second victory against Indian Air Force FT.
On the other hand, Imami East Bengal defeated Indian Air Force FT in its first match, while in the second match it defeated Downtown Heroes FC.

It is worth noting that Durand Cup is the oldest football tournament in Asia. This time the 133rd edition of the tournament is being played. A total of 24 teams are participating in the tournament. These teams have been divided into a total of 6 groups. There are four teams in each group.
