Google Chrome News: The US Department of Justice (DOJ) may soon give a big blow to Google. Actually, DOJ has approached the court to order Google’s parent company Alphabet to sell its Chrome internet browser. This has been revealed in a report by Bloomberg News. This Bloomberg report states that the department has requested Judge Amit Mehta to demand measures related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its Android smartphone operating system. Earlier, Judge Amit Mehta had given the verdict in August 2024 that Google has illegally monopolized the search market.
This demand can be made from the court
The report quoted some familiar people as saying that antitrust enforcers want the judge to order Google to sell Chrome. On the other hand, government lawyers say that Google’s search monopoly is harming competition. Also, using Chrome to promote products has become a big issue. Because of this, opportunities for competitors to enter and grow in the market are decreasing.
Let us tell you that Google Chrome is the most used browser in the world. Google uses it to promote its other products. In such a situation, it is alleged that due to this the avenues for development of competition are being closed.
These conditions can be imposed on Google
The US Justice Department may demand Google to make some necessary changes. These include the condition of Google separating Android from Search and Google Play. However, Google will not be forced to sell Android. Also Google will have to share more information with advertisers. The Justice Department also wants Google to provide more options to websites.
