DGCA fines Air India: The airlines sector regulator DGCA has taken a major action against Air India for operating flights with non-qualified crew members. DGCA has imposed a fine of Rs 90 lakh on Air India. Apart from this, a penalty of Rs 6 lakh has been imposed on Air India’s Director Operations and Rs 3 lakh on Director Training. The regulator has given a strict warning to the pilot of this flight and said that such a mistake should not be repeated in future.
DGCA said that Air India Limited operated a flight which was commanded by a non-line-released first officer with a non-trainer line captain. DGCA termed it as extremely serious with regard to safety and said that it could have had serious consequences.
