Per Capita Income: The annual income of the people of the country’s capital Delhi is less than that of the people of small states like Goa and Sikkim. In the year 2023-24, the per capita annual income of the people of Delhi has reached Rs 4 lakh 61 thousand 910. It has increased by 7.4 percent compared to last year. This is more than double the country’s average per capita income of Rs 1,84,205. It is the third highest in the country after Goa and Sikkim. This has been revealed from the Statistics Handbook of Delhi Government. The Statistics Handbook, released every year by the Delhi government, contains data related to socio-economic, demographic and infrastructure of the national capital.
The number of vehicles decreased by one third
The most shocking aspect of the data is that the number of vehicles plying on the roads of Delhi has decreased by almost one-third. It has decreased from 1 crore 22 lakh in 2021-22 to 79 lakh 45 thousand in 2022-23. The number of schools in Delhi has decreased from 5,666 to 5,487 in 2023-24. However, during this period the number of students studying in schools has increased. In 2020-21, the number of boys studying in schools was 23 lakh 60 thousand and the number of girls was 21 lakh 18 thousand. In 2023-24, the number of boys has increased to 23 lakh 70 thousand and the number of girls has increased to 21 lakh 36 thousand.
One lakh 80 thousand water connections increased in two years
The number of water connections in Delhi has increased by 1 lakh 80 thousand in two years. It was 25.4 lakh in 2021-22, which has increased to 27.2 lakh in 2023-24. Meanwhile, water consumption has also increased from 6,894 lakh kiloliters to 7,997 lakh kiloliters daily. In 2023, the number of cinema screens has increased by 10 from 137 to 147. The number of daily cinema shows has also increased from 623 to 740. Beautiful figures of the development of Delhi have been presented in these figures released by the Delhi government on the occasion of assembly elections. However, political rhetoric regarding these may intensify.
