Cricketers Reaction on Jay Shah Become ICC Chairman: On 27 August, Jay Shah has been declared the new ICC chairman and his tenure will start from 1 December 2024. The entire cricket world is congratulating the current BCCI secretary Jay Shah. Now from Hardik Pandya to Gautam Gambhir and many other cricket personalities have congratulated Jay Shah on becoming the chairman. Let us tell you that Jay Shah is only the fifth Indian person to become the ICC chairman in history. Before him, Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar have had the honor of holding this post.
A flood of congratulations
Team India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya congratulated Jay Shah through X and wrote, “Jay bhai, congratulations to you on becoming the youngest chairman of ICC. I hope that you will make a significant contribution in taking the game of cricket to new heights. Your vision will help in improving ICC, just like BCCI moved forward.”
Meanwhile, Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir has also congratulated Jai Shah and said that under his leadership the game of cricket will leave a new mark across the world. Women’s Team India captain Harmanpreet Kaur and BCCI have also issued an official statement congratulating him on achieving this special milestone. Dinesh Karthik has also sent a congratulatory message by posting on X.
When will the term begin?
New Zealand’s Greg Barclay took over as ICC chairman in 2020 and has completed two terms of two years each. He was also eligible for a third term, but he has already refused to give his name for the third term. His term will end on November 30, while Jay Shah will take over the chair from December 1.
