Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, Model Town, Ashok Vihar, Adarsh Nagar, Azadpur, Shalimar Bagh, Pitampura, Rani Bagh, Paschim Vihar, Uttam Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Kalkaji, Greater Kailash, Preet Vihar, Shahdara, Loni Road, Lakshmi in Delhi. The markets of Nagar, Vikas Marg, Yamuna Vihar, Anand Vihar etc. are busy with people buying items for Chhath Puja.
CAT National President Shri BC Bhartia said that apart from Bihar and Jharkhand, this festival is also celebrated with great enthusiasm in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Orissa, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh because all these People of Purvanchal earn their livelihood by working in large numbers in the states. It is the culture and civilization of India that during Chhath Puja, the setting sun is worshiped first along with the rising sun, which clearly shows that everything happens with the rising but the people of India also support the setting sun. And we find our happiness in that too.
According to CAT, the ingredients used in Chhath Puja include bamboo soup, banana leaves, sugarcane, sweets, fruits and vegetables, especially coconut, apple, banana and green vegetables. On the occasion of Chhath Puja, there has been huge purchase of women’s traditional clothes like saree, lehenga-chunni, salwar kurta and men’s kurta-pajama, dhoti etc. which has benefited local traders and also given a boost to small and cottage industries. At the same time, there is a huge sale of goods made on a small scale in homes.
Praveen Khandelwal said that “Chhath Puja is not just a religious event, but it is an integral part of Indian culture which is a symbol of social unity and dedication. This also directly benefits businesses and local producers and further strengthens Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge of ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. Most of the products used during Chhath Puja are largely made by local artisans and handicraftsmen. Due to which they have got new employment opportunities.
BC Bhartia also said that the festival of Chhath Puja is not only a symbol of spiritual reverence, but has also emerged as an important opportunity for business and employment, which will give new economic energy to the Indian markets in the coming times.
Women observe Chhath Puja fast to pray for the long life and good health of their children and husband. In this puja, long vermillion is considered very auspicious for the husband and hence during Chhath Puja, women apply vermillion from nose to forehead. It is believed that the longer a woman applies vermilion, the longer her husband’s life will be.
