Team India Won Chess Olympiad 2024 Gold Medal: India has created history in the Chess Olympiad 2024. India has created this history by winning gold medals in both men’s and women’s categories in the 45th Chess Olympiad. A new chapter has now been added to the chess history of the country. The 45th Chess Olympiad was held in Budapest. This is the first time that India has won gold medals in both categories in the same Olympiad.
Indian men’s team showed its prowess
The men’s team performed brilliantly in the 11th and final round against Slovenia. World Championship Challenger D. Gukesh displayed his technical prowess playing with black pieces against Vladimir Fedoseev. The 18-year-old Grandmaster overcame difficulties and won, in which his strategic ability played an important role.
Arjun Erigaisi also played brilliantly in his game and defeated Jan Subelj on the third board. His victory came in a brilliant centre counter defence game. Also, R. Praggnanandhaa registered a brilliant win against Anton Demchenko to give India a 3-0 win against Slovenia.
The Indian men’s team won 21 out of 22 points, including a 2-2 draw with Uzbekistan, while defeating all other opponents.

Indian women’s team left its mark with gold
The Indian women’s team also performed brilliantly. The team of Harika Dronavali, Vaishali Rameshbabu, Divya Deshmukh, Vantika Agarwal, Tania Sachdev and captain Abhijeet Kunte won the gold medal by defeating Azerbaijan in the 11th round. This is also a big achievement for the Indian women’s team, because they performed brilliantly throughout the tournament with their excellent strategy and patience.
