Let us tell you in detail about Chandipura Viral Encephalitis (CHPV).
How does this disease occur
This virus is transmitted by the female phlebotomine sandfly, which thrives during the early days of the monsoon season. This Sergentomyia sandfly plays a key role in the spread of the virus. Aedes aegypti is highly sensitive and effective in laboratory conditions.
Chandipura infection causes encephalitis, which increases inflammation of brain cells. However, no specific symptoms have been seen apart from mosquitoes.
Prevention and symptoms of Chandipura virus
In Chandipura virus, the patient may have flu-like symptoms along with high fever, vomiting, swelling in the brain (encephalitis) and seizures. If it spreads rapidly, it can cause swelling in the brain, which can lead to coma or death if not treated on time. To protect against this virus, it is important to keep insects like mosquitoes away.
For this, spray insecticides at places where flies and mosquitoes breed. Apart from this, keep the surroundings clean and do not let dirt accumulate. Take care of proper disposal of garbage and do not keep it in the open. Use toilets and do not defecate in the open.

According to the report, the condition of children deteriorates rapidly, and they die within 48 hours of hospitalization. Some of the initial symptoms include sudden fever, vomiting, change in mental state, seizures, diarrhea, difficulty in speaking, poor vision, headache, stiff neck.
