CT 2025 PCB on Renovations Update: The first match of Champions Trophy 2025 is to be played on 19 February. Which is being hosted by Pakistan. India’s match will be played in Dubai under the tournament hybrid model. There are less than 6 weeks left for this tournament to start. For this, Pakistan Cricket Board is renovating Gaddafi Stadium of Lahore, Rawalpindi Stadium and The National Stadium of Karachi. Which should have been completed long ago, but has not been done yet. Pakistan is being criticized a lot regarding this.
Delay in renovation work
The capacity of Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is being increased from 27,000 to 35,000 seats. State-of-the-art 480 LED lights and two screens will be installed here, and new player and guest boxes are also being built. Work is also going on to add 10,000 additional seats in Rawalpindi Stadium. The renovation work of these two stadiums is expected to be completed by January 25. At the same time, 5000 more seats are being increased in the National Stadium of Karachi and 350 LED lights are being installed there too for better lighting.
PCB’s assurance
PCB hopes that all the work will be completed by the first week of February. For this, he has shifted his triangular series from Multan to Karachi and Lahore. This series will start from February 8 and PCB says that after this the condition of all the stadiums will be fine for the Champions Trophy. This triangular series is to be played between Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa.
ICC’s strict monitoring
Although the PCB is confident in its claim, the renovation work of the stadiums was initially expected to be completed by December 31. Now this work is expected to be completed with a delay of one month. In such a situation, the International Cricket Council (ICC) may come to Pakistan to review its progress. If all the stadiums are not ready by February 12, then according to reports the tournament can be shifted to UAE.
