Champions Trophy 2025 IND vs PAK: Cricket match between India and Pakistan is not just a game but a big festival for cricket lovers. Whenever these two teams take the field, the excitement is at its peak and the International Cricket Council (ICC) benefits a lot from this rivalry. But, if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refuses to send Team India for the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan in 2025, then ICC may suffer a loss of crores of rupees.
The future of India-Pakistan match is in danger!
According to reports, BCCI has indicated that Team India will not go to Pakistan for this tournament. If this happens, then Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed its intention to take big steps in response. PCB says that if India does not tour the Champions Trophy then they will not participate in any ICC tournament against India between 2025 and 2031. This means that exciting matches like India-Pakistan will hardly be seen in future, which will have a bad impact on the financial condition of ICC.
ICC’s dependence on India-Pakistan rivalry
For the last several years, ICC has been increasing its revenue by promoting matches between India and Pakistan. Both the countries are placed in the same group so that they can face each other in every tournament. Recently ICC has signed a broadcast deal worth $3.2 billion (about Rs 27007 crore) for the 2024-27 cycle. ICC not only benefits from the income earned from these matches, other cricket boards also benefit from it. If these matches between India and Pakistan are stopped then the value of ICC’s broadcast deal may decrease in future.
Contribution of India-Pakistan match to cricket
The contribution of India-Pakistan match in cricket is not limited to sports only, but their presence also strengthens the economic aspects of cricket. During the ODI World Cup held in India in 2023, the match between India and Pakistan was watched by more than 40 crore viewers. This figure shows how much passion people have for this match. Such matches help ICC in getting the support of big sponsors and viewers.
