Budget: Preparations for Budget 2025-26 have started and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is starting a round of meetings regarding this. The budget is likely to be presented in Parliament on February 1, 2025. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has started pre-budget consultation from Friday, 6th December. This tradition has been going on for many years as part of the budget making process in the Finance Ministry. Under this series of consultations, the first meeting has been held with eminent economists of the country on 6th December.
What suggestions did economists give?
In the meeting held on December 6, economists on Friday suggested the government to bring an industrial policy to promote manufacturing and relax fiscal consolidation in the budget of the next financial year. Apart from this, economists have suggested ways to the government to increase investment and have also given suggestions to control the inflation rate of food items and deal with climate change.
Talks with farmer unions, agricultural economists and MSME representatives
After these meetings of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman with economists on 6th December, a meeting was held with farmer unions and agricultural economists and representatives of MSME sector on 7th December i.e. today. This budget will be the eighth consecutive budget of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the second full budget of the third term of the Modi government.

With whom will the Finance Minister hold pre-budget discussions?
The pre-Budget consultations will conclude on December 30 with consultations with Indian industry leaders and social sector dignitaries, particularly stakeholders from education and healthcare. Their views will be sought on the General Budget 2025-26 and overall suggestions and recommendations,
Apart from the Finance Minister, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Finance Secretary and DIPAM (Department of Investment and Public Asset Management) Secretary Tuhin Kant Pandey, Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth, Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra and Financial Services Secretary M Nagaraju will be present in these meetings. .
