Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to become the first Finance Minister who will present the budget for the seventh consecutive time. Earlier this record was in the name of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who had presented the budget six times in a row. She has presented a total of 10 budgets. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented a total of six general budgets, which include two interim budgets and four full budgets. Now she will become the Finance Minister to present the seventh consecutive budget.
Sitharaman became the Finance Minister in 2019
Nirmala Sitharaman took over as the Finance Minister in the second term of the Modi government. Earlier in 2017, she was given the post of Defense Minister. Nirmala Sitharaman has been the Finance Minister of the country since 2019. While being the Finance Minister, she has made many records in her name. When was the first budget of India presented
The first budget of independent India was presented on 26 November 1947. This budget was presented by the then Finance Minister RK Shanmukham Chetty. Talking about the shortest budget of India, this record is in the name of Hirubhai Muljibhai Patel. While holding the post of Finance Minister in the government of Morarji Desai in 1977, he presented the shortest budget speech of only 800 words. This was an interim budget.
