IND vs AUS 2nd Test Shubman Gill Thumb Injury Update: India has won the first match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Now the second Test between India and Australia will be played at Adelaide Oval from 6 December to 10 December. Rohit Sharma could not play in the first test due to giving time to his family and Shubman Gill could not play due to finger injury. Now Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team in the second test, but the chances of Shubman Gill joining the team seem less.
What is the latest situation of Gill’s injury?
Initial reports regarding Shubman Gill’s injury said that he will have to rest for at least two weeks. Indian team’s bowling coach Morne Morkel had indicated that if his injury improves then he can play in the first Test. However, this could not happen because the injury was serious.
Now it has become clear that Shubman Gill will not play even in the day-night practice match against Prime Minister’s XI at Manuka Oval, Canberra from 31 November to 1 December. This practice match was important for the preparations for the Pink Ball Test between India and Australia to be held in Adelaide.
A source associated with the team was quoted by Times of India as saying, “Gill was advised rest for 10 to 14 days by the doctor. He will not play in the practice match and his participation in the Adelaide Test is also doubtful. He will be recovering from the injury. Even after this, he will need good practice before taking the field.”
Who will fill in for Gill?
Shubman Gill, who led India to a historic victory by playing a brilliant debut innings in the Gabba Test four years ago, has now become an important member of the team as the number three batsman in Test cricket. The team management had sent Gill to this position as an alternative to Cheteshwar Pujara. In such a situation, in his absence in the second test match, this responsibility can be handed over to either Virat Kohli or KL Rahul.
