Boeing Workers Strike: The strike by the aircraft manufacturing giant Boeing is costing the company very heavily. Due to this strike its production has been badly affected. Also the quarterly results of the company have also not been good. Because of this the company has now announced major layoffs. Boeing says it will cut its workforce by about 10 percent. This retrenchment may affect about 17 thousand employees. Apart from this, the company had also banned taking leave.
All employees including executives and managers will be affected by layoffs.
Boeing’s new CEO Kelly Ortberg informed on Friday that this layoff will affect all employees including executives and managers. This layoff will be done in several phases in the coming months. Kelly Ortberg said that we are suffering a lot due to this strike. Due to this, Boeing’s new aircraft 777X can now be launched in 2026 instead of 2025. Also, after delivering the old orders of 767 jet, the company will also stop the production of its cargo version in 2027.
Strike going on since 14th September, production halted, huge loss
Boeing’s production has been halted for about a month. Its machinists have been on strike since September 14. This week, two-day talks with the employees also ended without any result. About 33 thousand employees of the company are on strike. Kelly Ortberg said that since the year 2019, we have suffered a loss of about 25 billion dollars. Many challenges have arisen before us. Earlier, the company had also filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board against the union leading the strike. The company claims that the union does not want to end the strike.
